Every month we’re featuring one of the incredible Boss Babes that we know. Our January Boss Babe is Madison Vessels, Director of Business Development and Operations at BACH, a one-stop-shop travel app and planning tool for bachelor and bachelorette parties. BACH offers in-app messaging, polls, itinerary building, excursion bookings and expense management, bringing friends together in person and online. Her role revolves around building partnerships with local and national businesses who tailor to groups of this nature and share like-minded goals and values with our brand.

When did you start your company?
BACH was founded in 2018 by CEO Mike Petrakis and CRO Greg Ramey, who launched the business shortly thereafter in late 2019. After helping plan a few bachelor parties for their friends, they realized two things: no one picks their best man or maid of honor because they are great party planners, and nothing exists to make the planning process any easier. That’s why they set out to save the headache of planning bachelor and bachelorette parties for the morning after. BACH’s mission is to improve the group planning experience for the next generation by breaking traditions, exceeding expectations, and facilitating bookings and financial transactions in an effort to alleviate the planner’s duties.
WHAT WAS THE BEST COCKTAIL YOU'VE EVER HAD AND WHERE WAS IT?
The best cocktail I ever had was on a family trip to Todos Santos, a small surfing and fishing town in Baja California. It was a Cilantro Margarita made with fresh pineapple and cilantro, reposado tequila and fresh lime juice. Still dreaming about it to this day!
WHY DID YOU WANT TO WORK/START AT THIS COMPANY?
Coming from my last job at a public relations agency working with travel and real estate brands, I knew I wanted to stay in the travel industry, but wanted to be part of a more collaborative and goal-oriented company. All 10 members of our BACH team bring something truly unique and invaluable to not only the future of the business but also how we have come to establish our brand’s core values. I have learned more in the past year and a half working for BACH from each and every one of them than I could ever imagine.
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF QUITTING? WHAT DID YOU DO TO GET YOU BACK ON TRACK?
At BACH, not for one second. I am thankful to have found a group of people within BACH who are driven, hardworking, and constantly striving to learn and grow.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO IN YOUR CAR? (PODCASTS, MUSIC, AUDIOBOOKS, ETC.)
A mixture of everything. For short car rides I always listen to music, but for longer road trips I love to put on a good podcast or audiobook. NPR’s podcast “How I Built This” and The New York Times podcast “The Daily” are two of my favorites. I also get sucked into murder/mystery binge-worthy podcasts every so often.
WHO IS SOMEONE YOU LOOK UP TO? (CAN BE FAMOUS, FAMILY… OR FAMOUS FAMILY.)
I look up to many female founders, but most notably I think Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe (also an SMU graduate like myself) really set a precedent for empowering women across the globe to make the first move in all realms of life both personally and professionally. Business models similar to Bumble inspire the way I view business decisions at BACH to go against the mold and strive to build our brand into an ever-encompassing, progressive platform to fill the void in all touch points of the wedding/BACH planning journey, from custom decor and merchandise to bespoke experiences and short-term home rentals.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT WORKING?
I love getting outside to clear my mind and spending time with my friends and family. I also love finding and listening to new music (Spotify’s “New Music Friday” and “Release Radar” playlists give me a lot of joy).
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF?
I am most proud of my relationships with my family and friends. If there’s anything this pandemic has taught us, it is to cherish every day and keep in touch with your loved ones!
IF YOU COULD GIVE ANY ADVICE TO YOURSELF 10 YEARS AGO WHAT WOULD THAT BE?
Hard work and confidence in decision making pays off. Also, as my dad always says, “you can do anything you want, just not everything at once,” so focus on small wins, which will lead to even bigger victories. I also think it’s easy for small setbacks to cloud a positive mindset, so instead I would remind myself to use roadblocks in my personal and professional life as opportunities to improve and be better the next day.
HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT GAT?
We first met Meghan and the Girl About Town team back in January 2020 when we were launching BACH's Scottsdale marketplace. Meghan welcomed us into the city of Scottsdale with open arms and we couldn't be more grateful for her inside scoop into the city's bachelorette scene. Meghan and the entire Girl About Town team goes above and beyond to make our bachelorette groups feel special with personalized decorations, champagne deliveries, custom experiences and more, and we can't wait to see what's to come in 2021!
